I mostly remember all the stories Babs would tell of her dad, particularly his absent mindedness. when we were teens Babs used to joke about how Nigel would leave the house wearing two or more ties because he had forgotten he was already wearing one.
One of the times he and I had a long chat was when he was in Reading waiting to move to Scotland and I was home for a quick break from China. He met us in the pub and was the absolute centre of attention! He was funny and made all the same kind of jokes my dad made. It was so nice to spend a little time getting to know him as a person and not just Babs’ dad.
I’ll always remember him as a incredibly happy, kind of eccentric, clever man! Those are the best kind.
